South Dublin County Sports Partnership is inviting people to walk a marathon between April – June by organising a series of free 5km weekly walks.  The walks will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday each week at 11am and 7pm at locations such as the Grand Canal (9^th Lock), Corkagh Park in Clondalkin and the Dodder Valley Park, ending with a hike to the Hell Fire Club in the Dublin Mountains on Wednesday June 21^st. To register email info@sdcsp.ie

i. best practice procedure;
ii. understanding of why safeguarding children and young people in sport is important;
iii. recognising the different categories of child abuse and identify the signs of abuse;
iv. and the responding, recording and reporting issues of poor practice or abuse.

Coaching Ireland have developed 4 modules, specifically to  provide candidates with a better understanding of children’s sport and physical activity and best ways to optimise children’s enjoyment, participation and positive outcomes. 

The workshops will take place over 4 Monday’s from 6.30pm – 9.30pm in Kishoge Community College, Ninth Lock Rd (off the Outer Link Road), Lucan, Co. Dublin

Workshop 1: Coaching Children Successfully in Sport – An Introduction for Coaches – 13^th March

Workshop 2:  Child-Centred Coaching – Understanding Child Development & Learning and its Impact on How We Coach – 20^th March

Workshop 3:  Developing Physical Literacy through Sport 1 – Coaching Children to Move – 27^th March

Workshop 4:  Developing Physical Literacy through Sport 2 – 3^rd April.

“I have being coaching over 20 years at different levels from school to assistant coach to Irish u18 girls. What the course made me do was re-evaluate the way that I approach coaching the younger players. It also made me realise that the coaches that coach children need to be better educated sports wise than coaching seniors.”
